TG3 weekend in Brighton

SEPTEMBER - On a bright, sunny morning 12 members of Theatre Group Three (TG3), made their way to the Barceló Old Ship Hotel, Brighton, for their annual outing. On the first night the group enjoyed a splendid evening meal at the Royal York Hotel. The menu was varied with some unusual combinations. My desert included Rochefort and walnut ice cream which was unusual but delicious. On Saturday the group took an open-topped bus tour around historic Brighton, stopping off at the "Marina" for coffee. Then on to the Brighton Pavilion. My first time there, and well worth the visit. Later we thought we would sample the "Food and Drink Fair" (which just happened to be on during our visit), and grab a bite to eat. We chose to sit outside and watch the world go by. Unfortunately it started to rain, so we had to finish our lunch in the dining room. That evening we attended the Theatre Royal, Brighton, for a performance of "La Cage aux Folles," - an enjoyable and light hearted production. And so to bed in preparation for the journey home the next day. A most enjoyable couple of days and our thanks are due to Judith Finn, who planned the weekend, for all  her time and effort. JUNE - Sixteen members of Theatre Group Three (TG3), set off in a minibus on their annual pilgrimage to The Mill at Sonning, Berkshire. After a stop for coffee, the group arrived at the Mill in time for pre-lunch drinks. At 12.30 am lunch was served from a choice of four main courses including steak and ale pie, barbecue chicken, Caribbean pork and a vegetable bake. This was followed by a selection of deserts and coffee or tea. After a few paces within the Mill, the group moved into the theatre where they enjoyed an entertaining play - "Guilty Secrets" a thriller by Roger Mortimer-Smith. Everything went very smoothly - the trip, the lunch and the play and members returned by around 6.30 pm. (Report and photo: Brian Leith)

MARCH 2011 - Members of the Midweek Walking Group enjoyed spring-like weather when they assembled outside the Greyhound public house in Little Warley, just before they set off for a two-hour walk round Little Warley and Childerditch. We had wonderful sunshine for the whole of the morning, and the Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor David Tee, came out of his house and spoke to us as we walked past. His geese were honking at us, so he came out to see what all the noise was about! The walk completed, members enjoyed a welcome lunch at the Greyhound. (Report and photo: Fiona Agassiz)
